Laughing Bird

How lovely are these handmade tea-towels from Laughing Bird? The independent illustration and textile design label produces unique home-wares that are perfect for giving to others or for brightening up your winter kitchen.

Each piece is designed and individually screen printed from a little homegrown studio in the Blue Mountains - and it really isn't difficult to see the influence of this within the designs.

The reference of the natural Australian outback is, however, more than just skin deep: all prints are made with the highest regard for the natural environment utilising solvent free pigments on all natural fabrics.

Made with Love - and available at Down Yonder for only nineteen bucks a pop.

ARE YOU A LADY?

Check out this shoot by Melbourne Street Fashion featuring one of our favourite Melbourne labels, Lady

Whilst designer Petrova Hammond first found fame as a finalist on the debut series of Australian Project Runway, she has been making fashionable, quirky ladies of us all since the label's conception in 2006.

Down Yonder is currently stocking Lady's latest collection, including the She Walks in Beauty and Good and Evil Tutu dresses pictured in the shots above. The best bit of all is that being a Lady has never been quite so painless - all pieces are currently included in our end of season sale.

The Cassette Society

There is something just a tad nostalgic about The Cassette Society. The label - as its name suggests - produces clothes which reference eras past, and yet are still relevant in our post-iPod world.

TCS continues their paradoxical eighties/futuristic trend in their upcoming summer collection, That Heroine's Electric. Down Yonder is lovin' the splashes of acid wash, leather, fringing and studs, and can't wait until this season comes to the store over July & August.

We're particularly enamored with this amazingly detailed feathered v-neck tee pictured above - and it's a total steal! We've also got some great TCS accessories ordered, as well as some other spring staples such as denim shorts, singlets and tube skirts.

Give us a buzz at the store to pre-order anything pictured here that takes your fancy. Channel a bit of Blondie, and rock on the 80s like it's 2009.

LIVESTYLE

Check out the Down Yonder parade at LiveStyle....!

The Down Yonder team had a blast in the Docklands at the LiveStyle fashion
festival a few weeks ago. The combination of fashion and music was a great platform for showing the general public exactly what we are about. Catwalk parades showcasing the talent of exhibiting designers was mixed with champagne and loud tunes - all in all a fun vibe for everybody there!

We kicked off Saturday with a catwalk show that was a total hit. There was a massive consumer demand for all the garments on show at LiveStyle - and that's only a small slice of what can be found in store. For a full look at this season's stock simply drop in and say hello to us at 485 Malvern Rd, South Yarra.
